Who Will Be in the Money Tomorrow?

If there is one thing that I can probably count on, it is that Doug Aunet will be the winner of this tournament. He currently has 437 points and is ahead of the second place team by 72 points. The fact that he still has six players remaining, while most other teams have around four, makes him look like a lock. He can thank Kurt Warner and Darrin Sproles for his win.

In second place is Charles Johnson with 365 points. He is ahead of Brady Klejeski, by 14 points. They both have four players left on their team, one being Larry Fitzgerald who is on every team. Another player on both rosters is Hines Ward. Charles has the Pitt kicker who has put up only 16 points, and Heath Miller, who has not done much of anything for 7 points. Brady has the Pitt. DST and Kurt Warner, who has put up the most points by any player, 79 points. Charles will be rooting for a dull game that is low scoring and full of field goals. Brady will be hoping that Warner can air it out like he has been doing this post season.

15 points behind Brady is Will Rossing, the winner of this event two years ago. He has all of the players that Brady has, so the Pitt Defense will need to score +29 points to get him into third place. So, based on that, it seems that Brady will be guaranteed money.

Jason Davis is 14 points behind Will and will need Anquan Bolden to turn into a rusher and have a monster, historic game for Jason to have a chance at the money.

The rest of us, we are just spectators at this point.

Games Today

From the look of things, it appears as if we are going to have one game that will be high scoring, and one that should be a defensive battle. Who will that help and hurt?

Doug Aunet is in first place comfortably with 309 points, 35 points ahead of Brady Klejeski who has 274 points in second place. Charles Johnson is right behind with 272 points. Out of these three teams, the one who stands to benefit the most is Charles. He has five Philly players who will be looking to score early. With Warner being prone to throwing INTs, Charles’ Philly defense may also score a lot of points. Doug and Brady both have L Fitz and Warner, so Brady will not make up any ground that way. Doug also has McNabb, who may have to carry his team on his shoulders since Westbrook is hurting. The only advantage Brady has over Doug is LeRon McClain and Hines Ward.

Other teams not in the top three have a chance to move up as well. Jason Davis, who is in fourth place with 268 points, will be rooting for Boldin to play and play well in order to gain ground on the top three. DeShaun Jackson will help his team out as well. Will Rossing, with 259 points, will be rooting for Philly as well as hoping the Pittsburgh and Baltimore DSTs put up a lot of points. If they do, it significantly hurt Charles. A little further down the standings list, Tyree will hope that Baltimore wins their next two games. He is one of two teams who still have their SB and MVP predictions intact. Finally, I have the most players remaining in the tourney with 12. However, i am in second-to-last place, so my chances of winning anything are slim to none.

So, my prediction is that after the Sunday games, Doug will have solidified his first-place standing, Charles will most likely bypass Brady with his eleven remaining players versus the six Brady has. Jason could easily move into the top three, pending performances by the two mentioned above. And a number of teams still remain in contention for the money. We will see!

I’ll do a more in depth commentary tomorrow. I have two notes right now:

1. Everyone has gotten hurt by the playoffs so far. The upsets have beat up every team in one way or another. My team still has the most players remaining with 12, but I’m also second to last place.

2. Just so you know, Santonio Holmes’ punt return goes to the Pittsburgh DST since he was on the special teams when he made the TD. Points do not go to him.

Wild Card Series Complete

The Wild Card series is complete and already, there has been a few major upsets when it comes to teams in this league. Twelve out of fifteen teams have multiple players from the Colts, with seven teams believing that they would go all the way or Manning would be the MVP. The other upset was MN. Seven teams had at least three players from MN, and another two had two players. After both upsets, the field is pretty even to this point.

In first place is Will Rossing, winner of the first 3206 football tournament. He currently has 169 on the strength of the Baltimore defense (17 points - 4 INTs, 3 sacks, 1 FR, and 1 50+ TD return), Donovan McNabb (20 points - 300 yds, 1 50+ TD pass), and a few defunct players like Peyton and AD. In a close second place is Charles Johnson with 165 points. Even though he had AD and Chester Taylor on his team, he also has five Philly players as he believes they will take the whole thing. What hurts him are the four Atlanta players who are currently sulking at home. In third place is Doug Aunet with 158 points. He is the only person who chose Darren Sproles who delivered with 16 points (102 yards and two TDs). Doug also has Warner who scored the most points of the week, 30 (271 yds, 1 TD passing, and 1 50+ TD pass). Brady Klejeski and Jason Kearney are on the outside looking in with 152 points respectively.

As for players remaining on teams, Doug is tied with Tyree Johnson for first with 23 remaining players. I, Ben, am close behind with 22 players. Most everyone else has 18 players or so. Since Tyree and I are at or near the bottom of the heap, our hope is that our +4 player advantage will help us move up the rankings. Outside of that, everyone is still in this tourney at this point.

Super Bowl Split Pot

Sorry, I posted this on my own blog by mistake last night!

Before the Super Bowl, first-place Jason was ahead of Scott by one
point.  After the Super Bowl, they are now tied with 369 points a
piece.  Per the tie-breaker rules, the number of receiving TDs are
counted (not points from receiving TDs). 

On Jason’s team:
B. Engram - 1
B. Jacobs - 1
G. Jennings - 2
R. Moss - 1
R. Wayne - 1
S. Holmes - 1
T. Owens - 1
8 receiving TDs total

On Scott’s team:
A. Gonzalez - 1
M. Jones-Drew - 1
R. Moss - 1
R. Wayne - 1
S. Holmes - 1
T. Owens - 1
W. Welker - 2
8 receiving TDs total

So, they are tied for the first tie-breaker.  The next tie-breaker
is the number of total QB TDs.  They both have the exact same QBs, so
that is irrelevant.  The third and final tie-breaker is the total
number of DST TDs.  The both had the same DSTs except Jason also had
the NE DST.  They did not score any TDs, so both teams remain tied
after the final tie breaker.  Therefore, since there is no difference
between first and second place, we combine both pots and split them in
half.  Therefore, each team will receive $58.50. Congrats

Robby’s team came in third with 367 points.  Therefore, his team wins $13.  Congrats!

This contest was indeed close as we had a three-way tie for fourth
place between Georgie, Rich, and Will with 349 points.  Mike’s team was
not far behind with 346 points.  The rest of the league was pretty
close as well; only 47 points separated first from last place!
